“Testimonial coming soon…”

Client Profile: The British Educational Travel Association (BETA UKEA) is a well-established non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and improving education-based travel across the UK. Their network includes a wide range of members from the education, travel, and tourism sectors. A key part of their work involves maintaining a comprehensive member directory, publishing news updates, promoting industry events, and supporting their community through workshops and annual award

Client’s Objective: BETA UK already had a functioning website, but it had become outdated both visually and technically. The legacy theme was no longer supported, which created security risks and limited the ability to modernise the design. The backend relied on a complex mix of plugins and custom code, making it difficult to maintain and expand.
They needed a future-proof platform that would modernise the site’s appearance, streamline administrative processes, and support the continued growth of their member directory and events programme.

Project Scope: We rebuilt the website using WordPress with the Avada theme, creating a modern design framework that allows flexibility across the entire platform. To power their extensive member directory, we implemented GeoDirectory, which enables each member to have their own dedicated listing page.

One of the biggest improvements was shifting directory management to a self-service model. Members can now log into their accounts to update their listings, manage their profiles, and control their subscription payments. This significantly reduces administrative workload for the BETA team, removing the need for manual invoicing and ongoing updates.

The site also showcases BETA’s events, including their annual BETA Awards and industry workshops. These events are visually branded with distinct colour schemes, so we created global design layouts that allow sections of the site to feel like unique microsites while still existing under the main BETA domain. This level of design flexibility was not possible with the previous platform.

Future Prospects: The new website provides a secure, scalable foundation that can grow alongside BETA UK’s membership and industry initiatives. With improved performance, streamlined management tools, and modern design capabilities, the organisation now has a platform that supports both their operational needs and their long-term digital strategy.

Conclusion: The new BETA UK website transforms a legacy system into a powerful, modern platform. By combining improved design, member self-management tools, and scalable infrastructure, the site not only enhances the user experience but also reduces administrative workload — allowing the BETA team to focus on what they do best: supporting the educational travel industry.
