So you’ve invested in a swanky new company video and you want to make the most of it. Here are some ideas to help you make sure it’s seen by as many people as possible.
Here are your 9 tips:
1. Place your video on your website.
The homepage is best because the homepage gets the most traffic. Put your video above your fold so that viewers can see it without having to scroll down. Make sure the image linking the video is appealing and includes a play button on it or a ‘click to play’ graphic. Or you can set up the video to play automatically when they arrive at your homepage. Viewers eyes will be drawn to the video. You could have it as full-width video or have it smaller with a ‘call to action’ text beside it. The aim is for viewers to contact you (which your video invites them to do) and text beside the video can make this easy for them.
2. Place your video on your “About Us” page or on a Blog Page
These pages typically get the second highest level of traffic. On your ‘About Us’ page you could give viewers the option to view the video within an article about your company, embedded in your web page. In your blog page you might, for example, want to write about the production of the video or talk about why it was produced. Put your video next to your blog.
3. YouTube
YouTube has 2.1 billion users so get your video on there! Now in order for it to be found you need to make sure you have labelled it properly. So use all 100 characters in your title. Put the main keyword first. Use supporting keywords next in the title. This will help with YouTube and google searches. For the thumbnail choose something that’s visually appealing. You get a choice of 3 or you can upload one of your own which you can design to make it eye-catching. In the description put 1-3 sentences about the video, followed by the full http://…. web address for your company. Continue the description with more info about your company. Use tags – words which people might be searching for that relate to your video.
4. Social Media
Post your video on all of your social media platforms. Posting material regularly keeps your account active and attracts new followers. Video is the type of content that is the most “shared” Tag everyone who was involved in the video. They will then share it. Offer a coupon. Have a clear call to action. Ask for feedback, invite engagement from your viewers.
5. Sales Tools
If you’re going to client’s locations you can have your video on your tablet/ipad and play directly from there. You may not have easy access to wifi while visiting clients so download the video beforehand and play it for your client directly from your device.
6. E-mail Marketing
If you have a broadcast/newsletters/email campaign, video is a great way to spice it up. It has been shown that there is a 27% increase in open rate when you have “video” in the title of your e-mail.
So incorporate your video in your email template. Have a clear call-to-action, ie, an appealing image and a play button. If your email template doesn’t allow you to add a video just use a jpg image of the video with a play button on it and link this image to your web page with the video on it. If you fix up the video to play automatically the experience for the viewer will be much the same. They will watch your video at the click of a button.
7. Citation Sites
eg Google Places, Yelp, Yellow Pages.
Adding a video hugely increases interest in your business, puts you ahead of your competition and makes you look professional and up-to-the-minute.
8. Print Advertising
Cross-promote your video on pamphlets, leaflets, brochures, coupons, print banner ads, QR codes as well. Tell people they can experience more of your business by watching your video online.
9. Client-based
Show your video during direct sales meetings (have it on your iPad ready to show potential clients) Show your video in your showroom/lobby, ad a trade show, curing Client/Partner Meetings or at Presentations.
There are lots of things you can do with your video. Remember that having your video made is only the first step. The aim is to get it seen by as many of your potential clients as possible and to see a great response from it. I hope this has been useful.
