Project Overview: Fearless Girls Club – Creating a Progress Poster to Boost Confidence

Client Profile: Fearless Girls Club is a social enterprise with a bold mission: to empower every girl in the UK to grow up fearless, standing strong, speaking up, and knowing her worth. They offer weekly clubs for girls to attend, creating a supportive environment to build self-confidence and resilience.

Client’s Objective: Fearless Girls Club reached out to us to help them brainstorm and create an incentive poster to track the girls’ attendance and progress. Their goal was to encourage participants to keep attending the clubs, share positivity, and reward themselves for their commitment to boosting their self-confidence. The challenge was to design a visually engaging and functional incentive poster, but the team was unsure of the final look and format.

Project Scope: We began by conducting research and compiling a detailed document outlining various ideas for the “Progress Poster” concept. This document included everything from the target audience and goals to the design elements such as style, colour palette, typography, and stickers (which were essential for tracking progress on the poster). We explored various formats, including journal, map and fridge magnets, and presented these ideas to the team for feedback.

The research document was instrumental in helping the founders, Elle and Kate, clarify their vision and refine the concept. They ultimately decided on a journal-style design, which we began to develop further. As they were very hands-on and wanted to create much of the content themselves, we supported them by providing creative direction and designing specific assets, such as the stickers, which were created in Illustrator. The final product was put together using Canva, allowing for easy collaboration between us and the Fearless Girls Club team.

Future Prospects: Four months after the project, Fearless Girls Club shared their success, noting that the clubs were thriving and that they had launched a new monthly subscription box for girls aged 7-12. This new initiative offers a range of empowering activities and items designed to boost confidence and self-worth, and the subscription boxes make for perfect gifts.
